Women's Tennis Downs North Park in Final CCIW Matchup

The Big Blue women's tennis team took the courts at Fairview Park for the final conference matchup of the 2022 fall season, taking on the Vikings of North Park University on Saturday, October 15. 

Millikin was victorious in the match by a 7-2 margin, improving to 10-1 on the season, 7-1 in CCIW play, and taking second in the conference regular season standings. 

In doubles play, the team of D Galvan and Nikol Obradovic secured the first win with an 8-0 victory at No. 2 against Nikolina Kisin and Olivia Della. Katarina Carlberg and Alexandra Ristfeldt teamed up at No. 3 to pick up an 8-4 victory over Maddie Starr and Kate Vinson. North Park secured the No. 1 victory with Hanna Zethreus and Marie Fuenner defeating Paige Willer and Emily Markus. 

On the singles side, Willer bounced back from the doubles loss to take down Starr at NO. 3 in 6-0, 6-1 sets. Cristina Borunda recorded the next Millikin victory at No. 6, defeating Emma Trais in twin 6-0 sets. Brianna Barconi added to the Millikin lead and secured the Big Blue victory with her win at No. 4, taking down Della in 6-2, 6-3 sets. In the No. 5 match, Carlberg notched her second victory of the afternoon with 6-0, 6-3 set wins over Vinson, and Obradovic tallied the final win for Millikin at No. 1, defeating Zethreus 6-4, 7-6 in a 5-7 second set tiebreaker.

With the match victory, the fall portion of the Millikin women's tennis season comes to a close, and they will resume match play in March, beginning on the third with a match against Central College.
