Women's Triathlon Third at National Championships

The Millikin women's triathlon team traveled to Tempe, Ariz. for the 2022 NCAA Women's Collegiate National Championships at Tempe Town Lake near the campus of Arizona State University. Competing in the Division III race, the Big Blue placed third as a team in the overall standings. North Central captured their fifth team championship, and Trine placed second in the team standings.

The race, consisting of a 750 meter swim, a 20 kilometer bike, and a five kilometer run, began at 10:30 AM.

Sophomore Aly Barnes was the top Millikin finisher in sixth place in a time of 1:15:12. Amanda Fathman was the second Big Blue athlete to finish in 20th place in a time of 1:20:55. Sarahi Villafana was not far behind in 22nd, finishing in 1:21:13.The fourth athlete to cross the finish line for Millikin was Kendall Rossignol in 34th in a time of 1:26:18. Julia Druml placed 42nd, finishing in 1:29:14, and Shay Buchanan crossed in 1:33:04 for 47th place.

Also honored by the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association was head coach Molly Duesterhaus as the Coach of the Year in Division III.
