Millikin Baseball Downs Pioneers

The Millikin baseball team picked up a conference victory over Carroll University 5-3 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois on April 16.
 
After picking up a save on Friday at Augustana, Millikin's Caleb Buehrle got the start on the mound a turned in a winning performance throwing eight and two-third innings scattering 11 hits while limiting Carroll to just three runs. Aaron Agee returned the only batter he faced to pick up his third save of the season.
 
Carroll jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning with run scoring singles going to Benton Holly and Trevor Benz.
 
Millikin tied the game in the fourth with Frank Bryan doubling home Tyler Gade who had started the inning with a single. Bryan would then score the tying run on a RBI single by Kelby Golladay.
 
Lane Scott homered in the sixth inning to put the Pioneers up 3-2.
 
Millikin then scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull ahead.
Liam McGill singled to leadoff the inning. He stole second and then scored on a single by Kyle Gibson. Garrett Fritz then delivered the game winning hit when he blasted a two-run home run to left field.
 
Millikin is now 17-12, 4-6 while Carroll falls to 12-17, 5-6.
