Millikin Baseball Splits Twin Bill

The Millikin baseball team split a conference road doubleheader at Carthage College on May 2 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. After losing game one, Millikin rallied to win game two 12-6 in 12 innings.
 
In game one, Millikin jumped out to a 2-0 lead with single runs in the second and third inning. Garrett Fritz had an RBI double in the second and Liam McGill's double drove in the Millikin run in the third. Tyler Gade and Tanner Coleman each had two hits for the Big Blue.
 
P.J. Moser was the hitting star for the Firebirds hitting two solo home runs including the game winner in the bottom of the ninth.
 
In game two, both teams scored two runs in the second inning. Frank Bryan opened the inning with a single for Millikin.  He would score on a sacrifice bunt by Keagan Brady. McGill's sacrifice fly drove in the Big Blue's second run. Millikin took advantage of a Carthage error and passed ball to set up its scoring plays. Collin Callahan hit a two-run homer for Carthage's two runs in the second inning.
 
Millikin took the lead in the third on an RBI groundout from Kyle Gibson that scored Coleman who walked to open the inning. Fritz's double moved Coleman to third. Carthage tied the game in the fifth taking advantage of a bases loaded walk.
 
Millikin went back ahead in the seventh on a three-run home run by Brady.
Carthage answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 6-5. Just like in game one, Carthage got a home run in the bottom of the ninth this time to tie the game off the bat of Matt Felber.
 
Millikin broke open the game with a six-run 12th inning.  The big blows in the inning were two run singles from McGill and Fritz.
 
Kelby Golladay was the winning pitcher throwing the final three innings allow two hits and no runs.
 
Millikin is now 23-13, 9-7. Carthage goes to 12-24, 5-10.
