Men’s Soccer Falls in Season Opener

The Millikin University men's soccer team lost its 2022 season opener 4-2 at Aurora University at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur on September 1.
 
Aurora jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage on a goal from Gio Villegas. The Big Blue quickly tied the game when Luke Owsley scored on a penalty kick at the 8:38 mark.
 
Aurora added two more first half goals to build a 3-1 advantage at the end of the first period. Anthony Marmolejo and Eduardo Carrillo scored goals for the Spartans. Marmolejo scored another goal for Aurora in the second period.
 
The Big Blue's second goal was on an own goal.
 
Millikin will host Greenville University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 3.
