Millikin Women’s Soccer Rolls in Season Opener

The Millikin women's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 victory in its 2022 season opener at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois on Sept. 1.
 
The Big Blue got things rolling in the 25th minute on a goal from freshman Payton Dominguez with the assist going to fellow first year player Danielle Piper. Dominguez would convert a penalty kick three minutes later to make it a 2-0 Millikin advantage. With one minute remaining in the first half freshman Hallie Schafman scored Millikin's third goal with Piper earning her second assist.
 
Millikin scored two more goal in the second half with transfer Emilie Lafrenz twice finding the net. Bailee Blecker was credited with the assist on the first goal and Irena Malek getting the assist on the Big Blue's final goal of the game.
 
Sophomore Sophie Dorgan earned the shutout in goal recording one save.
 
Millikin will twice over the Labor Day weekend in Michigan. On September 3, Millikin plays at Kalamazoo College before heading to Albion College on Sunday, September 4.
