Triathlon Competes in Home Aquathon, Triathlon

The Big Blue triathlon team competed twice this weekend on September 23 and 24 at Nelson Park in Decatur, Ill.

Millikin hosted the Nelson Park Aquathon on Friday, September 23 with Sarahi Villafana finishing first in 10:37.71. Amanda Fathman took fourth to score 17 points in a time of 10:58.85, Kendall Rossignol and Aly Barnes finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth, and Shay Buchanan and Julia Druml finished back to back in 11th and 12th. Millikin took second in the team standings, finishing behind Willamette in the final standings.

On Saturday's Millikin Division III Invitational, Aly Barnes was the top finisher for the Big Blue in fifth place in a time of 1:12:47. With 122 total team points, the Big Blue placed third in the overall team standings. Fathman placed 16th as the second Big Blue finisher in 1:18:13, and Villafana was right behind her in 17th with a time of 1:18:14. Kendall Rossignol placed 32nd, Julia Druml took 33rd, and Shay Buchanan placed 36th.

Millikin women's triathlon will be back in action on Saturday, October 15 at the NCAA Regional Qualifier in Huddleston, Va.
