Millikin Men’s Basketball Falls to Elmhurst

The Millikin men's basketball dropped a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin contest to Elmhurst University 70-59 on January 4, 2023 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
 
The Big Blue started the game with a 6-0 run before the Bluejays got on the board. Frazier Ott's basket gave Millikin a 14-9 advantage with 16 minutes left in the first half. The Bluejays then battled back and tied the game at 18-18 on a Jonathan Zapinski bucket with 10 minutes to go in the first period. Millikin would go scoreless for a five minute stretch allowing the Bluejays to pull out to a nine point lead and take a 35-28 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Bluejays lead by as many as 17 points in the second half.
 
Millikin struggled on the offensive end of the floor shooting 31 percent (21-68) from the field. The Big Blue were 3-19 from three-point range. Elmhurst shot 46 percent (23-50) from the field and made 6-19 (32 percent) from three-point range.
 
The Big Blue's top scorer was Noah Livingston with 15 points followed by JT Welch with 12. Drake Stevenson had his second straight double double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
 
Wesley Hooker led Elmhurst with 20 points followed by Zapinski with 13 points and nine rebounds.
 
Millikin falls to 8-6, 1-4 while Elmhurst improves to 10-4, 2-3. The Big Blue host #12 Wheaton College on Saturday, January 7 at 4:15 p.m.
