Triathlon Competes at NCAA Qualifiers

The Big Blue women's triathlon team traveled to Springfield, Mo. on Saturday, October 14 for the NCAA West Regional Qualifier ahead of the 2023 Triathlon National Championships.

The race, which included participants from all three NCAA Divisions including Division I powerhouses Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and Texas Christian University.

Aly Barnes was the top Millikin finisher, placing 66th individually with an overall time of 1:15:01.83. She was the fifth Division III racer to cross the finish line behind four North Central College triathletes. Layla Walker was next in 86th, finishing in a time of 1:22:12.87. Kendra Culler crossed the finish line next for the Big Blue in 94th place, recording a time of 1:24:03.64.

Julia Druml was next in 102nd, finishing in 1:27:22.83. Sarahi Villafana placed 105th, completing the race in a time of 1:29:26.12. Kendall Rossignol finished in a time of 1:31:26.49 to place 109th. Shay Buchanan placed 114th with a time of 1:35:55.79.

The Big Blue posted the 13th overall team score with 134 points, fourth in the Division III standings.

Millikin women's triathlon will wrap up their 2023 campaign at the NCAA National Championships in Tempe, Ariz. on Saturday, November 11.
