The Big Blue women's volleyball team matched up against the host Rams of Cornell College on Thursday, November 16 from Mount Vernon, Iowa in their first round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. In the match, Millikin fell in four sets to the fourth-seeded hosts (19-25, 22-25, 27-25, 22-25).

The hard-fought battle saw the Big Blue crawl their way back into the third set after falling in the first two. Kailee Itzenhuiser led the offensive charge with 18 kills, while Addison Oyer chipped in 12. Alyssa Frederking topped the assists column with 19, and Gracie Shaffer added 17. Kyra Carothers notched five blocks defensively, while Itzenhuiser was the digs leader with 14. Sophia Howell chipped in 13.

The Rams were led by Ilah Perez-Johnson with 17 kills, and Carly Puffer and Kiana Manson each added 12.

The at-large bid received by the Big Blue marked the sixth NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Debbie Kiick. Kiick is set to retire after her 23rd season at the helm of the Millikin women's volleyball program.

With the loss, the Big Blue end the 2023 season with a 22-12 record. Cornell moves on to face top-seeded University of Northwestern (MN), while the other half of the bracket will feature a #2 vs. #3 matchup on Friday when UW-Whitewater matches up with WashU.
