Women's Volleyball Splits Final Regular Season Tournament

The Big Blue women's volleyball team welcomed alumni to the Griswold Center on Saturday, November 4 as part of a celebration of head coach Debbie Kiick's upcoming retirement. On a day that saw Millikin match up with the Tigers of DePauw University and the Bears of Washington University in St. Louis, the Big Blue downed DePauw in three sets before falling to WashU in four sets.
 
Against the Tigers (25-19, 25-17, 25-15), the Big Blue were led at the net by Kailee Itzenhuiser with 11 kills, and Emma Taylor added nine. Alyssa Frederking topped the aces column with three and contributed 21 set assists. Gracie Shaffer added 22 assists. Defensively, Delaney Higgins tallied five blocks, and Sophia Howell was the digs leader with 19.
 
The Tigers were led by Katie Gansle with seven kills.
 
Against WashU (20-25, 20-25, 25-14, 21-25), Itzenhuiser was the kills leader again, this time tallying 14 along with three aces. Addison Oyer added 10 kills. Taylor added four blocks defensively, and Howell added 15 digs. Shaffer recorded 19 assists and Frederking added 18.
 
Jasmine Sells was the kills leader for WashU with 15.
 
The Big Blue will host their College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament semifinal matchup on Thursday, November 9 as the second seed against the winner of #3 Carthage and #6 Elmhurst.
