Men's Basketball Opens Season with Win over Blackburn

The Big Blue men's basketball team opened their 2023-24 campaign at the Griswold Center on Wednesday, November 8 with a win over Blackburn College in a 73-56 contest.

Millikin was led offensively by Nate Straughter who scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including 2-for-5 from three point range. JT Welch and Frazier Ott each chipped in 13 points for the Big Blue. Walter Straughter added 10 points off the bench. Chase Travis was the leading rebounder for Millikin with 11.

The Beavers were led by Darius Duff with 16 points. 

The Big Blue took a 36-25 lead at the halftime break, shooting 45% from the field. Millikin outrebounded the Beavers 36-32 in the game. 

Millikin will hit the road on Friday, November 10 for a non-conference matchup with Aurora University with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 PM from Aurora, Ill.
