Millikin Women’s Basketball Wins at Central

The Millikin women's basketball team closed out 2023 with a 79-70 victory at Central College on December 30 in Pella, Iowa.
 
Millikin lead 25-14 at the end of the first quarter and went into the locker room at halftime with a 48-33 advantage. Millikin would push out to its biggest lead of the game (19 points) at 52-33 at the 7:32 mark of the third quarter. Central then fought its way back into the game out scoring Millikin by four in the third quarter and two in the fourth quarter.
 
Millikin shot 33-70 (47 percent) from the field and made 6-16 (37.5 percent) from three-point range. Millikin left points at the free throw line making only 7-13. Central shot 27-58 (47 percent) from the field and make 8-20 (40 percent). Central also struggled at the line making only 8-18.
 
Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 31 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Bailey Coffman had a double double with 21 points and a team high 12 rebounds.
 
Abby Johnson led Central with 17 points followed by Allison Von Gorp with 13.
 
Millikin improves to 10-2 while Central goes to 7-6.
 
Millikin returns to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action on Wednesday, January 3 at North Central College.
