Men's Basketball Drops CCIW Contest against Augustana

The Big Blue men's basketball team took on the Vikings of Augustana College on Wednesday, December 6 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill. as their second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin contest of the 2023-24 campaign. 

The Big Blue were down two at the halftime break with a score of 29-31. The Vikings found their groove offensively in the second half, pulling away late to defeat the Big Blue 59-74. 

JT Welch was the scoring leader for Millikin with 16 points, followed by Chase Travis with 13. Jaden McClain pitched in a double-double, scoring 11 and hauling in 11 rebounds. The Big Blue shot 38.8% from the field. 

Augustana shot 56.5% from the field, with Tyler Knuth leading in the scoring column with 19, going 6-for-9 from the field. Chase Larsen added 15. 

With the loss, the Big Blue moves to 3-6 overall, 1-1 in CCIW competition. Millikin will hit the road for their final conference matchup before the new year against Carroll University in Waukesha, Wis. on Saturday, December 9.
