Millikin Women’s Basketball Falls at Wheaton

The #23 ranked Millikin women's basketball team had its 14-game winning streak snapped falling at Wheaton College 66-48 on February 4 in Wheaton, Illinois.
 
Wheaton playing on its home floor and on Senior Night, brought maximum effort from the start of the game jumping out to a 25-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Thunder led 41-24 at halftime.
 
Millikin struggled in all aspects of its game shooting only 30.5 percent (18-59) from the field and making only 3-15 (20 percent) from three-point range. The Big Blue were 9-16 from the free throw line. The Thunder won the rebounding battle 58-26. Wheaton shot 43.5 percent (27-62) from the field and made 7-24 from three-point range.
 
Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 29 points and five rebounds.
 
Annika Ricardson and Caroline Sikkink led Wheaton with 15 points each. Anna Fernandez had a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Millikin falls to 17-4, 10-1 while Wheaton improves to 13-9, 8-5. Millikin remains in first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Second place Carroll University lost on Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University 78-55 so the Big Blue maintain its two game lead in the standings. Millikin travels to Bloomington on February 8 to face the Titans.
