Millikin Tennis Teams Earn Regional Recognition by ITA

The Big Blue tennis teams have garnered regional recognition by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), making the list of regionally ranked teams released on Monday, April 17. The men's team earned the 16 slot in the central region, while the women's team is ranked 12th heading into the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Conference Tournament next weekend.

The men's tennis team sits at 13-5 during the 2023 campaign. Last weekend, they picked up a 9-0 victory over Carroll University to move to 3-2 in CCIW play. The men will round out their conference schedule with a home match on Tuesday, April 18 against Augustana College and on Tuesday, April 25 at Elmhurst University.

Freshmen Hasting Bjorkman and Martin Cardestig have teamed up to win all but one of their doubles matches this season, including 10 straight.

On the women's side, the 13-4 Big Blue will match up with seventh seeded Carroll in the first round of the CCIW Tournament on Thursday, April 20 as the second seed in the tournament. Millikin defeated the Pioneers during the fall portion of the season by a 7-2 margin.
