Women's Tennis Sweeps Webster at Home

The Millikin women's tennis team matched up against the Gorloks of Webster University on Sunday, April 2 at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex in Decatur, Ill, earning a sweep on their senior day celebration.

Millikin celebrated seniors Nikol Obradovic and Brianna Barconi. In doubles play, the senior Obradovic teamed up with D Galvan to defeat Emma Ferguson and Kylie Chitwood 8-1 at No. 2, then Barconi earned a win alongside partner Emily Markus at No. 3 with an 8-3 win over Maddie Mena and Bailee Pineda. At. No. 1, Alexandra Ristfeldt and Katarina Carlberg defeated Erin Brezovar and Bailey Higgins 8-6.

On the singles side, Ristfeldt was the first winner, downing Chitwood at No. 4 in twin 6-0 sets. Markus recorded an individual victory, defeating Ferguson 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Obradovic picked up a win at No. 1, winning 6-1, 6-2 over Brezovar, then Carlberg added a win at No. 5, winning 7-5 and 10-5 after falling in the first set 3-6. Kaitlyn Mullins accounted for the final victory, winning 6-0, 6-4 over Pineda at No. 6.

Millikin will hit the courts again on Wednesday, April 12 when they matchup against Rose-Hulman and Lewis & Clark.
