Baseball Eliminated from CCIW Tournament

The Millikin baseball team was eliminated from the 2023 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Tournament with a 5-4 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University on May 12 at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Millikin's season ends with a 26-17 record.
 
The Titans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a two-run home run by Jacob Cyrus in the top of the first inning.
 
Millikin's Kyle Gibson lead off the bottom of the first with a double and would score on a single from Andy Niebrugge to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Big Blue tied the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Sam Bushur.
 
Illinois Wesleyan pushed across three runs in the sixth to go up 5-2. Thomas Bleker had an RBI single in the inning.
 
Millikin fought back scoring a single run in the sixth on a home run by Niebrugge. Liam McGill's RBI single made it a 5-4 game in the seventh.
 
Niebrugge and catcher Ryan Janssen had two hits to lead the Millikin attack.
 
Tristan Figus, Cyrus and Bleker each had two hits for the Titans. Cyrus was the winning pitcher for Illinois Wesleyan throwing seven innings allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out six.
 
Illinois Wesleyan improves to 20-22 on the season.
