Softball Falls in NCAA Elimination Game to Wartburg

The Big Blue softball team turned around quickly after defeating Waynesburg, matching up against Wartburg for the second time in two days in their second consecutive elimination game of the day on Friday, May 19.

Wartburg jumped out to a two run lead in the first, tacked on three more in the third, then two more runs to defeat Millikin by eight runs.

In the fourth, the Big Blue offense came to life, starting with a leadoff walk issued to Leah Foreman. Zoie Bowman reached on a fielder's choice, with pinch runner Sarah Lahner in safe at second on a Knight error. Anna Enlow's single to right field loaded the bases. Wartburg made a pitching change then recorded three straight outs on balls in the air to get out of the bases loaded jam unscathed.

The Big Blue end their season with a 31-11 record overall after making their third consecutive NCAA Tournament. Millikin celebrated the impact of their fifth year players Aly Armstrong, Kaylee Goluch, and Lex Tennison and seniors Jada Wilson, Addison Sargent, Aundrea Jenkins, and Morgan Boward.
