Millikin Women’s Soccer Wins Battle of the Blues

The Millikin University Big Blue women's soccer team defeated Illinois College Lady Blues 4-2 on September 13 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.
 
Senior Bailee Blecker led Millikin with two goals. The Big Blue scored twice in the first three minutes of the game to jump out to an early lead. Sophomore Elly Hermanson gave Millikin a 1-0 lead at 1:07 and the Blecker scored her first goal at the 2:34 mark with the assist going to Hallie Schafman.
 
Blecker gave Millikin a 3-0 lead in the 23rd minute with a goal with the assist from Hermanson.
 
Ten minutes later Stephanie Flores put Illinois College on the board with a goal. It was a 3-1 Millikin advantage at the half.
 
Each team scored a goal in the second half. Millikin's went up 4-1 on a goal by Melis Barutcu with the assist going to Riley Martinkovic. Illinois College closed out the scoring with a goal by Lauren Sinclair.
 
Millikin improves to 3-2 while Illinois College falls to 2-3.
