Millikin Women's Volleyball Downs Birmingham-Southern, Falls to Otterbein on Day One in Danville

The Big Blue women's volleyball team traveled to Danville, Ky. on Friday, September 15 for a tournament hosted by Centre College. While they are set to meet the hosts on Saturday, Millikin matched up with Birmingham Southern and Otterbein on Friday.
In their first match of the day, the Big Blue downed Birmingham Southern in a four-set match (25-17, 20-25, 25-16, 25-17).

Millikin outkilled the Panthers 54-35 in the match. Kailee Itzenhuiser led the way with 15 kills, and Emma Taylor added 13 along with six total blocks. Kyra Carothers notched five, and Addison Oyer added four blocks. Alyssa Frederking was the assists leader with 27, and Gracie Shaffer tallied 17. Itzenhuiser also topped the digs column with 12, tied with Kaitlyn Skowronski.

Birmingham-Southern was led by Gracie Sims with eight kills.

In their second matchup of the day, the Big Blue fell to Otterbein in four sets (22-25, 25-21, 27-29, 19-25). Itzenhuiser tallied a team high 19 kills and six service aces, and Taylor added 15 kills. Frederking added 33 more set assists, and Sophia Howell recorded 17 digs.

Otterbein was led by Morgan Hartman with 21 kills and Kennedy Hoffman with 15.
Millikin women's volleyball will be back in action from Danville on Saturday, September 15 against host Centre before returning to Decatur.
