Women's Triathlon Fifth at Millikin Collegiate Cup

The Big Blue women's triathlon team played host to seven fellow Division III Triathlon squads on Saturday, September 23 for the Millikin Collegiate Cup. Millikin placed fifth in the race with a total of 118 team points.

Junior Aly Barnes posted the fastest swim split, coming out of the water in a time of 12:06. She placed eighth in the race overall, recording a time of 1:13:11.

Freshman Kendra Culler was the second Millikin triathlete to finish the race, posting the second fastest run split and finishing in a time of 1:16:06 to place 14th. Fellow freshman Layla Walker took 33rd in a time of 1:25:02. Kendall Rossignol came in in a time of 1:26:08 to take 36th, and Sarahi Villafana was righ tbehind her in 1:26:57 for 37th place.

Shay Buchanan finished in 41st with her time of 1:29:08, and Julia Druml posted a time of 1:35:44.

North Central took the team title with 215 points, taking four of the top five slots with Hailey Poe finishing first in a time of 1:07:14. Calvin placed second, and Trine rounded out the podium in third.

Triathlon will be back in action on Saturday, October 14 when they travel to West Springfield, Mo. for the NCAA West Regional Championships.
