Millikin Wrestling Competes at National Duals

The Millikin University wrestling team competed in the 2024 NWCA/USMC Multi-Division National Dual Meeting Championships at the University of Northern Iowa's UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa on January 5. The Big Blue went 1-2 on the day.

Millikin started the day with a 24-18 win over RIT. The Big Blue won the first three matches with third ranked at 125 pounds Zac Blasioli opening the dual with a 20-4 technical fall win over Lee Rubin. Coby Haney then won at 133 12-7 and Trey Pearcy posted a 16-10 win at 141 pounds. Ninth ranked Nathan Callaway won at 157 with a 3-1 decision over Josh Warland. Dejon Glaster kept the wins coming for the Big Blue winning at 174 pounds 3-1 followed by a win by Benicio Martinez at 184 pounds 6-3. With Millikin up 20-18, the Big Blue's Leno Campbell sealed the dual victory with a 14-2 major decision at 285 pounds over Ryan Fischer.

In its second match of the day Millikin lost to third ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse 45-4.
The Big Blue's victory came in a battle of NWCA ranked wresters at 125 pounds, third ranked Blasioli defeated Remington Bontreger of Wisconsin-La Crosse in a major decision 17-5.

Millikin lost its third match of the day to sixth ranked Vermont State University-Castleton 24-13. Millikin's Blasioli faced his second match against a top 10 opponent in the match against Castleton. Blasioli needed extra to remained undefeated on the season with a 2-1 (TB-1) win over Gavin Bradley. At 149 pounds, Chase Mirelez scored his first career Big Blue win defeating Jashon Holmes 7-1. Millikin one another battle of top 10 ranked wrestlers at 157 with ninth ranked Callaway knocking of seventh ranked Nate Camiscioli 2-1 with advantage time deciding the match. Millikin got an upset win at 174 pounds with Glaster knocking off fourth ranked Desmond McLaughlin 12-0 (major decision).
