Men's Soccer Stalled by Wheaton

The Millikin men's soccer team matched up against the Thunder of Wheaton College on Saturday, October 19 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Ill. The Big Blue fell in the contest 1-2 with Wheaton exacting revenge after MU played spoiler to their CCIW regular season championship last season with a 3-1 win on the last day of the 2023 season.

After a scoreless first half, Kyle Johnson found the back of the net in the 64th minute after an assist from Garrett Belcher. They'd add the the lead in the 80th minute when Timmy Jones used a second chance opportunity from a shot that ricocheted off the right post.

Less than a minute later, Tobias Øverbye scored to chip away at the Wheaton lead, but the Thunder held possession for nearly the entire last nine minutes to come away with the win. 

Millikin was outshot 11-14 in the match with Wheaton recording seven shots on goal. Oliwier Holowinski recorded five saves.

The Big Blue will travel to Rock Island, Ill. on Saturday, October 26 for a matchup with Augustana College with kickoff set for 3:30 PM.
