Men's Basketball Defeats Rose-Hulman at Home

The Millikin men's basketball team matched up against the Fightin' Engineers of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Wednesday, December 11 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill. In the game, the Big Blue were victorious, snapping Rose-Hulman's four-game winning streak with a 58-49 victory.

Millikin posted a pair of 29-point halves in the win, taking a 29-23 lead at the halftime break.

Lane Thomann was the leading scorer with 11. JT Welch was named the McDonalds Player of the Game with nine points on 3-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc and five rebounds. Drake Stevenson and Nate Straughter each chipped in eight points, and DeMarcus Bond and Tionne Spates shared the leading rebounder title with six apiece. 

The Big Blue shot 51.4% from the field in the game, going 19-for-37 from the field and 9-for-19 from three point range. 

The Fightin' Engineers shot 29% from the field, going 18-for-62 from the field and shooting 26.8% from three point land with an 11-for-41 metric. They forced 17 Millikin turnovers in the loss, committing 15 of their own turnovers.

Kobe Stoudemire was the leading scorer for Rose-Hulman, scoring 11. Cole Pride and Jack Jenniges each chipped in eight. 

With the win, Millikin moves to 5-4 overall. 

The Big Blue will travel to Memphis, Tenn. for their final two games of 2024 when they match up against Millsaps College and the host Lynx of Rhodes College on December 28 & 29.
