Volleyball Splits Day Two of Pikes Peak Challenge

The Big Blue volleyball team took the court for day two of the Pikes Peak Challenge in Colorado Springs, Colorado with matchups against fifth ranked UW-Oshkosh and sixteenth ranked Gustavus Adolphus. 

Millikin fell to Oshkosh 1-3  (21-25, 26-24, 18-25, 18-25) before defeating Gustavus Adolphus 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-16, 25-23). 

Against Oshkosh, Kailee Itzenhuiser was the kills leader with 11. Delaney Higgins and Kyra Carothers each added nine. Alyssa Frederking and Gracie Shaffer tallied 15 assists apiece. Defensively, Carothers notched three blocks and Sophia Howell was the digs leader with 16. Shaffer added 15. 

Riley Kindt was the kills leader for Oshkosh with 17.

In the win against Gustavus Adolphus, Itzenhuiser led the squad with 22 kills. Frederking tallied 34 assists. Howell was the digs leader with 23, Itzenhuiser added 21.

Millikin will be back in action on Friday, September 6 at the Gargoyle Classic hosted by UChicago with a Friday night matchup against William Smith College.
