#14 Women's Volleyball Records Two More Sweeps at Millikin Invitational

On the final day of the 2024 Millikin Invitational, the fourtheenth ranked Big Blue took the court before honoring their seniors. The Big Blue recorded another pair of sweeps to go a perfect 12-0 in set play this weekend. 

In their opening matchup, the Big Blue hit for an attacking percentage of .304, tallying 44 kills to Anderson's 30. They recorded six service aces as a squad against the Ravens. The 3-0 match saw the Big Blue win 25-17, 25-14, 25-16.

Addison Oyer was the kills leader with 11, while Kailee Itzenhuiser added 10. Sophia Hoewll and Gracie Shaffer each notched two service aces. Alyssa Frederking topped the assists column with 18, and Shaffer added 15. Defensively, Delaney Higgins and Kyra Carothers were each credited with four blocks, and Howell led the squad in digs with eight.

In the final match of the day, the Big Blue met Hanover, who received votes in the latest AVCA/Taraflex poll. Millikin recorded their final win of the 4-0 weekend in another sweep (25-17, 25-15, 25-11). 

With a resounding block from Sophia Gibbs ending the match, the match saw a plethora of long rallies as Hanover fought to take a set from the Big Blue. Gibbs led the way in blocks with three, while Howell was the digs leader with 18. Itzenhuiser tallied 17 digs and 12 kills. Frederking added 18 more assists to her season totals, and Shaffer chipped in 17 assists.

With the 4-0 weekend, the Big Blue move to 13-2 overall. They'll meet their second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opponent on Wednesday, September 25 when the Pioneers of Carroll University travel to the Griswold Center.
