Women's Volleyball Victorious over Stevens Point

The  #11 Millikin women's volleyball team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa on Friday, September 27 for the two-day UD River City Classic, meeting the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in their opening matchup. The Big Blue downed the Pointers for the first time since 1999, sweeping them in a 3-0 decision (26-24, 25-14, 25-19). 

The Big Blue outkilled the Pointers 43-32 and won the narrow digs battle 53-50. 

Kailee Itzenhuiser topped the kills column with 11, while Addison Oyer added nine and Delaney Higgins chipped in eight. In a match that saw the Big Blue tabulate 12 service aces, Kaitlyn Skowronski and Alyssa Frederking notched five apiece. After achieving her 1,000th career assist against Carroll on Wednesday night, Frederking added 19 more to her career totals against the Pointers, and Gracie Shaffer added 17.

Defensively, Itzenhuiser tallied the top number of digs with 15, and Skowronski added 12. Kyra Carothers notched three blocks.

For the Pointers, Ashley Kopp recorded 11 kills. 

The Big Blue will compete in back-to-back matches on Saturday, September 28 when they meet the host Spartans of the University of Dubuque in a 10 a.m. contest, followed by a a matchup with the Muskies of Lakeland University at 12:30 p.m.
