#17 Women's Volleyball Downs UChicago and Mount St. Joseph

The Big Blue women's volleyball team traveled to Chicago, Ill. on Saturday, September 7 for the Gargoyle Classic on Saturday, September 7. After defeating William Smith on Friday in three sets, the Big Blue downed two squads receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll, host UChicago and Mount St. Joseph.

Senior Kailee Itzenhuiser surpassed the 1,000 career kills milestone on the day. Against UChicago (24-26, 25-23, 25-22, 25-17), Itzenhuiser was the kills leader with 15. Delaney Higgins added 14. Kyra Carothers added five blocks defensively, and Sophia Howell was the digs leader with 16. Itzenhuiser added 15. Gracie Shaffer topped the assists column with 22, and Alyssa Frederking added 15. 

 Against Mount St. Joseph (25-15, 18-25, 25-16, 25-14), Itzenhuiser again tallied 15 kills, with Addison Oyer adding 11. Itzenhuiser notched five service aces, and Carothers added four blocks. Shaffer once again led the way with 20 assists, while Frederking added 19. Kaitlyn Skowronski was the digs leader with 16 digs. 

With the victories, Millikin moves to 6-1 overall on the season. The Big Blue will travel to Whitwater, Wis. for the UW-Whitewater Invite II on Friday, September 13 for matchups with Concordia Wisconsin, UW-Whitewater, and UW-Stout.
