Volleyball Suffers Pair of Losses in Wisconsin

The Millikin women's volleyball team traveled to Stevens Point, Wis. on Friday, October 3 to play a pair of games in the Papa Johns Invite hosted by UW-Stevens Point. Millikin met the host pointers in their first matchup, falling in straight sets.

The Big Blue were led by Addison Oyer and Delaney Higgins with nine kills apiece against the Pointers (17-25, 22-25, 17-25). Alyssa Frederking tallied 18 assists and eight digs. Samantha Breckenridge added eight digs.

UWSP was led by Lauren Shaw with 10 kills. 

In their second game of the tournament, Millikin battled against Gustavus Adolphus, falling in five sets (16-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-22, 6-15).

Despite being outkilled 40-58 and outdug 60-70, the Big Blue pushed the contest to a fifth set. Elle Richards tallied 10 kills, and Kyra Carothers added nine. Nikkel Johnson totaled two service aces and six blocks. Frederking tallied 32 assists and Kylie Ramirez topped the digs column with 14. 

Gustavus Adolphus was led by Sydney Timm with 18 kills and Leah Berg with 16. 

Johnson was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the Papa Johns Invite.

The Big Blue fall to 7-8 with the pair of losses. They'll return to the Griswold Center on Wednesday, October 8 when the Thunder of Wheaton College for a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin battle set for 7:00 PM.
