After falling behind 14-24 heading into the second quarter, the Big Blue rallied to outscore Rose-Hulman in three straight quarters. Despite being down five heading into the halftime break, Millikin won the second half 36-28 to complete their comeback victory.

The fourth quarter saw back-and-forth action, with Rose-Hulman tying the game each time the Big Blue took a two-point lead. With 1:08 remaining, Dudley gave MU the 68-66 lead on a layup, then RHIT's Emma Schipp tied it up at 68 apiece with 50 seconds to go on a layup.

Dudley sank one of two free throws after a Fightin' Engineers foul, then blocked a layup attempt by Julia Meyer. Tatum Young secured the rebound to give Millikin the ball back, forcing RHIT to foul. Christina Rice sank two free throw attempts to give Millikin the three point advantage. Fennell put up a three point attempt in an attempt to tie that was no good, and the Big Blue came away with the road opening win.
