Box Score The Millikin men's basketball team opened their 2025-26 season on Saturday, November 8, with a 71-55 victory over Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill.
The Big Blue jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, taking a 31-21 advantage into halftime. Millikin continued to execute on both ends of the court in the second half, to secure the 16-point win.
Lane Thomann led the way for Millikin, recording a game-high 28 points on 8-for-15 shooting, while also pulling down nine rebounds.
Ian Winkler contributed 17 points and five assists. Nate Straughter tallied 8 points and led the team with five assists, and McGrady Noyes chipped in six rebounds and two points.
As a team, Millikin shot 49% (25-for-51) from the field, 42.9% (6-for-14) from three-point range, and 78.9% (15-for-19) from the free throw line. The Big Blue controlled the glass, out rebounding Monmouth 36-25, and tallied 28 points in the paint.
With the win, Millikin begins the season 1-0 and will look to continue their strong start when they return to action November 12, against Concordia University Chicago.
