Women's Basketball Stymied by Late Elmhurst Rally in CCIW Opener

The Millikin women's basketball team traveled to Elmhurst, Ill. for their 2025-26 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opener against the Bluejays of Elmhurst. 

The Big Blue took an 11 point lead into the halftime break, outscoring the Bluejays 33-22 in the first half of action. Elmhurst rallied in the second half, outscoring Millikin 11-19 in the third quarter and 16-23 in the fourth quarter. 

Nikkel Johnson was the leading scorer, connecting on 12-for-19 field goals for 25 points. She notched a double-double with 14 rebounds. Bella Dudley added 17 points and seven rebounds on 7-for-15 shooting, and Hannah Ermeling chipped in 12 points. 

The Big Blue were down 10-15 after the first quarter, outscoring the Bluejays 23-7 in the second quarter.

Millikin shot 24-for-56 from the field for a 42.9% shooting. 

Elmhurst was led by Natalie Harty with 20 points, and Kristin Bukata added 14 points. 

The Big Blue will hit the road again on Saturday, December 6 to meet their second CCIW opponent of the season in Chicago, Ill. at North Park.
