The Big Blue men's basketball team hit the road to match up with Elmhurst University on Wednesday, February 5 in Elmhurst, Ill. Looking to avenge their 65-69 loss in mid-January, the Big Blue fell in a 68-78 contest.
Lane Thomann was the leading scorer on 7-of-14 shooting with 19 points and the leading rebounder with six. Nate Straughter and Drake Stevenson each added 10 points apiece.
In a game where both teams shot at least 50% from the field, Millikin was 25-for-47 for 53.1% shooting. Elmhurst's 11-for-21 shooting from beyond the arc beat the Big Blue who made just four three pointers in the game.
Dominic Trelenberg was the leading scorer for the Bluejays with 18, with Tagen Pearson adding 16 and Sebastian Blachut chipping in 15.
Millikin was out scored 29-36 in the first half. Elmhurst scored 22 points off of Millikin turnovers, holding as much as a 15 point lead in the second half.
The Big Blue fall to 5-7 in conference play with the loss, and the Bluejays improve to 6-6 in CCIW play. Millikin will return to their home floor in the Griswold Center on Saturday, February 8 for a rematch with the Vikings of Augustana College.
