Millikin Wrestling Qualifies Three for NCAA Championships

Three Millikin University wrestlers are headed to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships after finishing in the top three in their weight class at the NCAA Division Region 5 Regional held on Feb. 28-March 1 at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Fifth year senior and returning All-American Dejon Glaster headlines the groups that includes senior Coby Haney and junior Leno Campbell both making their first NCAA Championships appearances.

Glaster won the 174 pound weight class. After going 2-0 on Friday, Glaster won his semifinal match on Saturday over Ryan Riser by fall at 5:25. Glaster won the Championship match due to a medical forfeit. Glaster is now 30-2 on the season.

Haney finished in second place at 133 pounds. Had won his first three matches including two bonus point victories before losing the Championship match to Dominik Mallinder of Wisconsin-Whitewater 17-4 (MD). Haney improves to 27-4 on the year.

Campbell finished in third place at 285. Campbell won his first two matches on Friday. In Saturday's semifinal Campbell lost to Titus Waters of Wabash 4-1. Campbell then had to post two wins to qualify for nationals. After winning his consolation semifinal match by fall, Campbell won his third place match 4-2 over Christopher Krum of Albion in one of the final matches of the event.

The NCAA DIII Championships are March 14-15 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Millikin finished in third place in the team standings with 118.5. North Central was first with 173 followed by Wisconsin-Whitewater with 142.5.
