The No. 12 Millikin volleyball team earned its first victory of the 2025 season on August 30, closing out the Trinity University Invitational with a 3–1 win over No. 13 UW–Platteville (25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21). The victory came after the Big Blue dropped their first two matches of the season on Friday against Top 25 opponents No. 23 NYU and No. 10 Trinity (TX).
Millikin (1–2) came out strong in the opening set against Platteville, trading momentum before pulling away late for a 25-17 win. After falling in a narrow second set, the Big Blue regrouped and closed out the match with steady play in the third and fourth frames.
Addison Oyer led the offense with 16 kills while hitting .310, and Kyra Carothers added 12 kills in support. Setter Alyssa Frederking guided the attack with 37 assists and added 11 digs for a double-double. Defensively, libero Kylie Ramirez posted a team-high 22 digs, and Charley Condill chipped in 15.
The win gave Millikin its first victory of the season and capped a challenging opening weekend that featured three straight matches against nationally ranked opponents.
The Big Blue return to action next weekend at the KTIS Classic in St. Paul, Minnesota.
