The Millikin men's soccer team returned to Frank M. Lindsay Field on Wednesday, September 3, for the second game of the season, falling 4-0 to Illinois College in non-conference action.
The Blueboys of Illinois College, capitalized early with four first-half goals, but the Big Blue settled in and produced a much stronger second half. Millikin created consistent offensive pressure after the break, finishing with 11 shots in the match, including eight on target, while also earning a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper
Joshua Garrett turned away five shots across 90 minutes of play, keeping Millikin within striking distance throughout the second half. Offensively,
Olav Kaldahl and
Kyle Borcherding both generated quality scoring chances as the Big Blue worked to break through the Illinois College defense.
The Big Blue (0-2-0) will look to build on that second-half momentum when they return to action on
Saturday, September 6, at home for a non-conference matchup against Monmouth.
