Decatur, Ill. — Millikin Women's Soccer faced a nationally ranked opponent under the lights at Frank M. Lindsay Field on Wednesday night, falling 7-0 to No. 5 Washington University in St. Louis in non-conference action.
The Big Blue battled a high-powered WashU attack that controlled much of the possession throughout the evening.
Big Blues goalkeepers Myka Smith & Madelyn Everly turned in a hard-fought performance between the posts, recording 14 saves against 21 shots on goal.
WashU scored 6 goals in the first half, then 1 in the second.
Millikin will look to bounce back as it returns to CCIW play this weekend. The Big Blue travel to Elmhurst University on Saturday, October 4, for a key conference matchup.
