Women's Soccer Suffers Conference Loss at Home

Decatur, IL— Millikin University women's soccer returned home to Frank M. Lindsay Field for a Collegiate Conference in Illinois and Wisconsin meeting with Elmhurst University.

Millikin struck first with a shot from Addison Weed to minutes in, which was saved by the goalkeeper of Elmhurst. The Bluejays took two of their own between Izzy Jones going for it, but neither successful. Haley Fulton had the chance to make two saves in this timeframe.

36 minutes into the first half began a scoring run for the Bluejays as they put in back-to-back goals on their fifth and sixth shots before the forty-minute mark to close the half. Elmhurst went into halftime up 2-0 over the Big Blue.

Both teams became more aggressive with both teams receiving foul calls in the second half.

The Bluejays took four shots in the second half leading up to minute 75, where they were able to sink in their third goal of the game; leading 3-0 with 15 minutes remaining. Jessica Bearley grabbed one save in goal in her 45 minutes of play second half.

Only attempting two more shots from Livia Meeds and Olivia Connelly, the Big Blue could not lower the deficit, falling to the Bluejays 0-3.

This loss puts women's soccer at 0-2-3 in conference play and 6-5-3 on the season.

On Wednesday, October 14, the Big Blue are back on the road to Fulton, Missouri for a non-conference matchup with Westminster College. Kickoff is set for 5PM at Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium.
