The Millikin men's basketball team closed out the 2025-26 regular season with a hard-fought 70–67 victory over Wheaton (Ill.) on Saturday. With the win, the Big Blue finish the year at 14-10 overall and 6-10 in CCIW play.
Millikin and Wheaton were evenly matched throughout the opening half, entering the locker room tied 26-26. The Big Blue shot 39.3 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes but held the Thunder to just 29.6 percent shooting to keep the contest even at the break.
Millikin caught fire offensively after halftime, shooting 55.6 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes and 47.3 percent for the game. Lane Thomann led all scorers with 21 points, going 6-of-13 from the field and 7-of-10 at the free throw line. Ian Winkler and Chris Ketchum both added 14 points a piece, while Nate Straughter contributed 11.
Millikin controlled the paint with a 38-24 advantage and forced 17 turnovers. The Big Blue also held a 38-31 edge on the boards.
The victory marks a strong finish for the Big Blue, who close the season with the win.
