Men's Tennis Cruises to Fourth Straight Win

The Millikin men's tennis team took the courts as the home team at Bloomington Tennis and Turf in Bloomington, Ill. on Sunday, February 22. The Big Blue cruised to their fourth straight win, defeating the Grizzlies of Franklin College in a clean sweep, 7-0. 

In doubles play, the team of Jorge Aura and Gillian Nahum teamed up for a 6-1 win over Clark Hersam and Jaden Wells at No. 1. At No. 2, Harry Masterman and Eduardo Vargas squeaked out a 7-5 win over Marcus Cox and Shay Kyser. Nils Fischer and Matthew Kordesh finished out the doubles sweep at No. 3 with a 6-1 victory over Brendan Hanner and Luke Morris.

On the singles side, Kordesh started things off with twin 6-1 victories over Hersam at No. 1. Nahum picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Cox at No. 2. Vargas was the victor at No. 3 with 6-4, 6-1 wins over Wells. With two 6-2 set victories over Raymond Richard, it was Masterman earning a win at No. 4. Aura recorded 6-1, 6-1 victories over Avram Rund at No. 5, and Fischer completed the sweep with 6-2, 6-1 victories over Morris.

With the win, Millikin men's tennis moves to 4-1 overall. They will meet Kentucky Wesleyan College on Friday, March 6 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo.
