Millikin Wins over Elmhurst

Millikin baseball celebrated the five-year anniversary of its historic 2021 season prior to today's game against Elmhurst. The team won the program's first CCIW Tournament Championship, advanced to the NCAA Regional at Workman Family Baseball Field, and finished with a school-record 31 wins. Highlighted by Caleb Buehrle being presented with awards for his 2024 accolades of Second Team All-American, CCIW Pitcher of the Year, and Region Pitcher of the Year. The Big Blue then faced Elmhurst at 1 p.m. earning a 9–2 victory. 

In the bottom of the third, Millikin's offense came alive, putting up six runs. Easton Steck got things started with a single to right field. Anderson Decker reached on a throwing error following his sacrifice bunt, and Pete Britton loaded the bases with a single to the left side. 

With the bases loaded, Ty Cribbett was hit by a pitch to bring home Steck. Kolby Koslofski then stepped up and ripped a line drive to right field, scoring Britton and Decker. Sam Bushur followed with a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Cribbett to tag and score. Mick Neibrugge capped off the inning with a line drive up the middle, driving in Koslofski and Reich. 

Elmhurst responded back in the sixth scoring two runs.  

Koslofski stayed hot at the plate, ripping a ball down the left-field line to score Cribbett. Bushur followed by launching a home run to left field, bringing Koslofski home. 

Starting on the mound for the Big Blue was Brayden Saling pitching seven innings allowing seven hits, six strike outs, and two runs. Nolan Reiman came into the top of the eight inning to finish it off for the Big Blueallowing one hit and one strikeout.  

Carder Reich, Kolby Koslofski, and Pete Britton collected two hits each. Ty Cribbett, Sam Bushur, Easton Steck, and Mick Niebrugge collected one hit each. 

Kolby Koslofski led the team offensively as he went 2-5 with a double and a single, along with three RBI's.  

Next up the Big Blue will face North Central College at 6:00 p.m. home on Wednesday.
