Millikin Heads to the Championship

In tonight's game against North Park, the Big Blue earned a 12-2 victory in eight innings.

Matthew Brummer started on the mound, pitching five innings while allowing one run on six hits and recording seven strikeouts.

In the top of the second, the Big Blue got on the scoreboard first. Mick Niebrugge walked, then Gage Reynolds put him in scoring position with a double off the left-field wall. Anderson Decker later brought him home with a sacrifice fly.

The Big Blue added another run in the third as Sam Bushur hit a grounder to second that scored Pete Britton. North Park answered with a run in the bottom of the third.

In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, Carder Reich drew a walk to plate Leyton Ivers.

In the top of the fifth, Gage Reynolds showed off his speed with an inside-the-park home run to right-center field, making the score 4-1.

In the top of the sixth, Pete Britton walked and Ty Cribbett drove him in with a double down the left-field line. Cribbett later moved into scoring position on a passed ball, which led to Carder Reich bringing him home with a sacrifice fly to right field. Easton Steck then plated Bushur with a double to right field.

Nolan Reiman came in to pitch in the bottom of the sixth, throwing one inning while allowing two hits and one run and recording two strikeouts.

The Vikings threatened in the seventh, but Gavin Houchins came in to pitch one inning, allowing one hit while recording one strikeout and no runs.

In the top of the eighth, Mick Niebrugge singled through the left side to score Julian Cabanin. With the bases loaded, Steck drew a walk to plate Reich. Reynolds followed with another bases-loaded walk to score Bushur. Anderson Decker also added an RBI walk that plated Niebrugge. Britton later hit a sacrifice fly to score Steck, making the score 12-2.

The Big Blue will play again tomorrow in the championship game starting at 3 p.m.
