Mount Vernon, IA – Millikin University women's tennis kicked off the 2026-2027 campaign on Saturday, taking on Cornell College and Buena Vista University. The Big Blue split the day losing to Cornell College before defeating Buena Vista University.

Play opened with the #1 doubles pairing of
Rachel Combs and
Addi Ross falling 6-0. At #2,
Braxtyn Madison and
Sarah Parsons dropped a 6-0 decision, while the #3 team of
Katie Kammerer and
Bella Griffiths lost 6-1.

Rachel Combs fall 6-1,6-2. #2
Bella Griffiths went down 6-0, 6-1. The #3 matchup saw
Braxtyn Madison defeated 6-1, 6-0. Contest #4 would find
Addi Ross losing 6-1, 6-1. At #5,
Sarah Parsons fell 6-1, 6-1, and things were capped off with a win by forfeit at #6.
Millikin 5, Buena Vista 2
In their second match of the day,
Rachel Combs and
Addi Ross fell in the #1 doubles match 6-3. The Big Blue would rally back in #2 doubles with
Braxtyn Madison and
Sarah Parsons teaming up for a 6-4 victory. #3 doubles would find
Katie Kammerer and
Bella Griffiths falling 6-1.
In singles play,
Rachel Combs would get things started in the #1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Bella Griffiths would keep the momentum going in the #2 singles winning 6-4, 6-3. At #3,
Braxtyn Madison won 6-1, 6-0.
Addi Ross would have to go the distance in #4 singles winning 4-6, 6-4. 1-0.
Sarah Parsons would take home the win in #5 singles 2-6, 6-2, 1-0. To close things out,
Katie Kammerer lost 6-2, 6-1.
The Big Blue will return to campus for their home opener against Illinois College on September 5.
