Decatur, IL – Big Blue men's soccer was in action at Frank M. Lindsay Field tonight welcoming the visiting Panthers of Principia College. Millikin would defeated the Panthers, 3-1. The win marked the Big Blue's first win at home in 2026. With the win, the Big Blue improves to 2-3-1, while Principia College falls to 2-2.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, that would see Millikin fire three shots on goal in the first 45 minutes of action. Freshman
Nathan Charlton would make his collegiate debut after receiving the start in net for the Big Blue. Charlton saved the only shot he faced during the half. The Big Blue would head into the locker room tied, 0-0.
Nearly 10 minutes would pass in the second half before
Olav Kaldahl would provide the first score of the game in the 54th minute.
Aquiles Yibirin would strike fast with a goal of his own in the 55th minute. At 63:44, Yibirin would fire a pass to reigning CCIW Offensive Player of the Week,
Bryce Davis who would find the back of the net for the 4th time this season. Principia would respond with a goal of their own in the 81st minute but would be unable to close the gap any further. The Big Blue would prevail, 3-1.
"That was a real team win, we played real dominate front foot soccer," said Head Coach
Charlie Ward. "We appreciate all the continued support for our fans; we will need it if we're going to keep this momentum going".
Men's Soccer will be back in action at Frank M. Lindsay Field for Senior Day as they take on Rockford University on Saturday, September 19 at 3:30 pm and will be streamed live on the CCIW Network.
