Monmouth, IL – Millikin University women's soccer took a trip to Monmouth College to face the Fighting Scots, going in with lots of energy to start on the right foot.
In the first minute of the game, freshman
Morgan Gaudy struck first and put the Big Blue on the board with her first goal of the season.
All was silent until the second half. At the 51-minute mark,
Izzy Jones found Gaudy for a second time, assisting her in her second goal of the game; putting Millikin up 2-0 over the Fighting Scots.
Excitement and opportunities were on the rise for the Big Blue, leading others to be aggressive and look to score. First year
Hannah Daly found the top corner of the goal to score the third goal of the night and her first of her collegiate career off the assist by
Hannah Ramsey. The momentum was all in Millikin's favor.
Off a great performance at Saint Mary's, Jones topped it off 10 minutes later to put in the fourth and final goal of the game. This puts the junior captain at five goals on the season with 12 total points, leading the Big Blue.
Goalkeep
Jessica Bearley had a shutout game not allowing the Fighting Scots to get on the board, making two saves on Monmouth's two shots on goal.
Women's soccer improves on the season, going into Senior Day with a 4-2 overall record. The Big Blue will welcome Greenville University of Illinois to Frank M. Lindsay Field on Saturday, September 19 with kickoff at 1PM, also on the CCIW Network.
