St. Louis, MO – Millikin University women's soccer traveled two hours to the No. 1 team in the nation, Washington University in St. Louis for a good challenge, keeping up with Bears but falling 0-2; sitting at 6-3 on the season.
WashU came out early with two goals in the first 27 minutes of the game, but not able to extend to their season average of about six goals per game.
The Big Blue lost the battle with only one shot and two corner kicks versus the Bears taking 29 shots and nine corners.
Jessica Bearley performed great in the post to keep WashU from cashing in goals with nine total saves on their 11 shots on goal. This puts Bearley at 29 saves with a .674 save percentage on the season.
"We fought for 90 minutes against the reigning national champions and the current number 1 team in the country. We're very proud of our efforts today." Said head coach Ian Doherty.
Millikin heads to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Saturday, September 26 to open College Conference in Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play against Carthage College with the first whistle at 2PM on Art Keller Field, also on the CCIW Network.
