Rock Island, IL - Millikin University Women's Golf was in action on Saturday, playing the opening round of the Highland Classic, hosted by Augustana College. The Big Blue find themselves in 2^nd place of 12 teams with a score of 319 (+31), three strokes behind the leaders.
 
Millikin was led by Zoey Beard, who shot a 77 (+5) to place third though the opening round. Hailey Homann shot an 80 (+8) to tie for 6^th, and she was tied with teammate Lindsay Jackson. Ruby Haegen's 82 (+10) was good to tie for 11^th, and Ava Hackman was tied for 14^th after firing an 83 (+11).
 
Playing as the individual, Jaryn Haarmann scored an 83 (+11) to tie for 14^th. Campbell Vrabel shot a 93 (+21) to tie for 48^th, and Maddie Bradbury rounded things out for Millikin with a 94 (+22).
 
"The team killed it today." Said Director of Golf Sam Osborne '10. "319 is one of the best rounds that we've ever shot as a program. To be right behind Augustana for the lead going into day two is awesome. I'm excited for us to go out tomorrow and compete for the win."
 
Millikin is back in action on Sunday morning with the final round of action from Rock Island.
