Dorian Hobbs Jr.

Dorian “DJ” Hobbs Jr. joined the Millikin men’s basketball staff as an assistant basketball coach in May 2016.
 
In 2015-16, Hobbs served as a Graduate Manager at Western Illinois University where he helped a Division I program in several areas and made a strong bond with the players.   Hobbs’ previous five years were dedicated to being the assistant coach with the Jets AAU team as well as Jet-Ramey United team.  Coaching some of the top 20 players in the nation, Hobbs’ team went undefeated in tournaments in the month of July 2015 earning them a number one ranking in the nation for the 15U age group.
 
As a student at Parkway North High School in St. Louis, Hobbs was a three sport athlete (football, basketball, and track).  In high school, Hobbs was a four year varsity starter and a three year captain.  He was also named to the All-District team and All-Conference team every year.  Hobbs finished his high school career top five all-time in points and assists and finished first in games played.  Hobbs played collegiately at Culver-Stockton College, where he was a two year starter and one year captain.  He played on teams that were nationally ranked in the NAIA Division I Top 25 and made it to the national tournament twice finishing in the elite eight both times.  Hobbs also was named the National Guard Student Athlete of the Month his senior year at Culver-Stockton.
 
Hobbs graduated from Culver-Stockton with a bachelor’s degree in Media Communications and double minors in History and Religion and Philosophy.
