After a stellar high school coaching career, Tom Noonan joined the Millikin men's basketball staff under Head Coach Kramer Soderberg prior to the 2021-22 season.
Noonan, a Decatur native, led the St. Teresa basketball program from 2011 to 2021. His overall record is 205-92 and in 2015 he led the Bulldogs to an IHSA State Championship Appearance. He was won five conference title, two regional championships and one sectional title. He had 20 plus wins in six of his 10 full seasons as a head coach. Noonan was named the Decatur Herald and Review County Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018 as well as the IBCA District 15 Coach of the Year in those seasons.
Prior to becoming the head coach, Noonan was an assistant coach for the Bulldogs for six years helping guide St. Teresa to an Elite 8 Appearance in 2010 (29-2 record), a Sweet 16 appearance in 2009 and a Conference Championship in 2010.
Two of Noonan’s former players have played professionally including Brennen McElroy, who played collegiately at the NCAA DII program the University of Indianapolis, and Christian Williams, who played at Iowa and Indiana State.
Noonan is a 2006 graduate of Millikin University where he was a three-year member of the Big Blue baseball team. He is earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. Noonan teaches Social Studies at St. Teresa High School and has also coached baseball and golf for the Bulldogs.
Noonan is married to Amy (formerly Gagnon) Noonan, a 2009 Millikin graduate. They have two children Ruby and Charlie.
